Belated Happy Lunar New Year and I hope the NCoV didn't rained on you party too much. I understand the "pain". 
Not just New Year's but pretty much every large annual gathering goes like this . It's basically a way for relatives to keep tabs on each other's current social/economic standing, whether someone's lagging (in which case you get "advise") or leaving them behind (in which case they'll simmer quietly while "being happy" for you LOL).

LOL, I guess that pretty much some up everything if you are going to a family reunion and you have nothing to show-off.
Been there myself, but I was not affected by it, I just take everyone's advise and get out and build my own future. Anyways, belated Chinese New year, and btw, it doesn't have any significant effect on the market price.
