With a decent bit of money you can build/buy a reasonably good cooling structured building.
Everything for miles around is blasted out of existence every day. Zapped by the sun and the heat.
No more wanky flu germs!
Still, carriers who have virus inside and transmit via mucous (saliva) are immune to radiation from the outside.
For cooling you can build underground, with pretty constant temperature and humidity. clay would be the goto material for covering the walls.
Electric cooling still has the flaw of growing bacteria, unless you cool with water. And what if the cooling becomes defective, what about power outages, what about food?
Living from canned food for weeks? f*ck that, man

Good idea, overall, but there are important downsides to be weighted.
