Yes, it is quite sad. Fortunately, so far, in the fight between MintDice and faucet abusers, we actually seem to be winning. Whether or not we can win long term with anti-abuse solutions awaits to be seen.

At first I never really understood why bitcoin casinos had faucet instead of just having some demo or play money. Basically the faucet is a very small amount and as long as the game play is the same then it makes no difference between a faucet or play money.

But then when you learn about bitcoins history you find that the faucet had a big role in the adoption of cryptocurrencies. Remember that faucet back in the day that gave 1 BTC per day? So many bitcoin services and websites have started to include a faucet on their site.

Eventually due to large fees, faucets were removed for on-chain transactions. The off-chain faucets for casinos still remained pretty much until 2017 which attracted a bad crowd and led to all this abuse and faucet removal or frozen withdraws.

Hence what casinos do these days is smarter. Just use play money or have some promos for your loyal members.
