That's right. Giving money to people is not always a good thing. Sometimes it makes their life worse than it was before. It's not that it's always bad, though. I was given some money to gamble with several times during the past years, and I haven't become addicted or anything. But: 1. I never asked for the money(which would be a red flag, obviously); 2. Those people knew me very well to know that they won't do me a disservice by giving me money to gamble(or buying me a ticket for a poker tournament). If a gambler is begging you to share your big win with him/her, after you told them that you won big, so that they could gamble with the money, it's better to not give it to them, and it's even better to not talk about your big wins with such people, in the first place.
It is not good to talk about your big gains. The reason for it is same as you have discussed.
People think that you are addicted to it and therefore making this much money. Moreover, others feel that you are trying to boast off your wins. This could be dangerous for your personal growth in many ways.
Addicted gamblers rarely make money, usually they lose it. There are workaholics, who are basically addicted to their jobs, and those people do make money, but that is so because in their case everything depends on their skills. In gambling, however, too much things depend on luck, and even the best pro poker players lose big sometimes. In short, gambling is not the place where you can make money while being addicted to the process.
Yes addicted gamblers use to do this they often talk about their earning with people but this is surely not a good habit. We should keep it secret and away from as people can give us harm to disclosing our earning from other people. Gambling is like a way of earning and it's not for other people but for us that's why don't talk here and there about how much you are earning from gaming.
