Lol, you were investigating the most popular cryptocurrency? You must be kidding me. Who even knows about altcoins, unless you mean the most popular altcoin? Even if its about the most popular altcoin everyone already knows that Ethereum is the most popular altcoin.
But, as for the most popular cryptocurrency, that is Bitcoin. When it comes to usage you will notice that Bitcoin is widely accepted. If you check online stores they are mainly accepting Bitcoin and none of them accepts altcoin. I have only seen a few thats accepting Ethereum.
