escrow/courier/reshipping services are possible. I'm not currently familiar with any though. Are there some generally trusted services that get used here?

Generally speaking, minerjones (aka MJ) is the most used escrow as you can see from his trust review. There are others that are highly trusted but none more so than MJ.
I just wanted to chime in real quick. I recently used minerjones' courier service and would highly recommend it for anyone who is selling/buying high priced coins. ;)For me, it was all about peace of mind. Its just not worth taking the risk of having the package lost, delayed, seized etc in the mail imo.
