Different words, same stuff. Stopping and preventing are just both the same, or maybe to you it is not, but they always related to each other. "Stopping" means you have a plan to prevent yourself continuing on playing gambling, and "Preventing" means you have a plan to stop or change your way to avoid being addicted to gambling.
Think about it, I hope it does make sense
