The main reason I can think of is due to the lost of interest in altcoins in general from but old and new Investors. The old Investors starts selling since they have lost interest but then there isn't any new enthusiast to dump the coins on so they begin lowering their selling price to attract buyers but then there aren't any or when have buyers, usually they're not much which result to low liquidity.
Although this is a general reason, some altcoins are usually the creators of their own downfall. The decision they make can destroy the trust in them by their previous enthusiast. Postponing certain activities like launch date of upgrades or development send a wrong message to their community members also the mismanagement of fund and dumping of coins on the market is also a major contributor to their downfall.
I think it's because of the actions of the developers that can't be trusted by investors so that many altcoins are sold in the market and become a fall in the price of the altcoin.
So now there are many investors who do not believe anymore in their own talk, even the road map is sometimes not according to what is planned, therefore investors always think of how not to lose money, obviously sell it instead of holding it for a long time, there is no price to most altcoins now like that.
