I once read Tesla shut down his wireless experiments himself, however Edison with the support of Wall St. and London Co. continued the work in spite of Tesla. He they said he shut it down because he saw their "end game" was very bad.
I read this decades ago (90's) when Hutchinson was all the rage with his military surplus Tesla coils, so sorry no references. His old videos still make the rounds though.
