Back in June or so, several projects [..] intending to make secure hardware wallets. [..]there has been absolutely zero progress from any of them[..]
There is a one-way hardware-wallet: casascius' coin 
And I would handle smartphones or even tablets as "like" a hardware-wallet - as they are portable enough. or is there a contrary definition?
