Must means: "to be obliged or bound to by an imperative requirement." See
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/must?s=t.
Petition means: "a formally drawn request, often bearing the names of a number of those making the request, that is addressed to a person or group of persons in authority or power, soliciting some favor, right, mercy, or other benefit." See
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/petition?s=t.
The definitions show that
must is a requirement, but that
petition is simply a request. So, these two things don't fit together. Our petition doesn't require anything of the mand. It only makes a request of him that he will ignore and go on with life.
Why waste the time?
