I agree with this and AFAIK you can earn BAT by just downloading Brave browser then you just need to watch some ads or you can also earn BAT by receiving a tip from other users (just correct me if I'm wrong). This time might be a good time for you to invest cause most of the top-performing cryptocurrency is down and it's a great opportunity for you if going to invest in it because I know once the market recovers it will bring to you a good amount of profit. For me, I rather spent my time investing in solid cryptocurrency than spending deeper research on new projects and I know it's very difficult to trust new projects because we are already aware that there's some scam project that will gonna take our money that's it's better to invest in top coins in the market (check the ranking on the Coinmarketcap).

If you really intend to invest in new projects don't forget to do own research and make sure you will not regret risking your money. And, allot most of your money in bitcoin because I'm sure after this crisis it will rise again and might set a new high price on the market.
