Not in any way is your post wrong, actually it's one of the best newbie debut post I have seen, newbies mostly ask on how to earn merits and rank up, make money etc from the go; but your first post has covered more important aspects than that and even "guides" and "help" to other users.

You can introduce the forum to as many people as possible, but the way you do it is also important, so if they decide to join due to your recommendation they would not start off like the "typical" newbie, but will understand what the forum is all about.
