I understand your point, and I think most clubs do give out bonuses to their players at least if they win certain trophies. But really that's not the point, It's just that these are unprecedented times and come to think of it, If the club should go bankrupt no players would get paid and would be out of a contract, and mostly these rations are just some what needed in order to keep non playing staff at their jobs too, I've read about certain premier league clubs furlough their non-playing staffs.

In my opinion, Ozil has been very charitable all through his career, so this is a bit pf surprise for me and there could be more factors at play here.
