Not speaking about the projects listed in the original post but there are many examples of projects that have no future just because of lack of development/no real use case/etc.
But in general I would agree it takes time for project to become huge enough.
Yes, because with the greatness that occurs in the project, the project will be easier to be recognized by many people, and obviously raising a project requires sufficient time and development so that the project can be as successful as desired by the team.
