I'd suggest that you start a separate thread including the formal definition of the project and related announcements, letting this thread to be a place for casual discussions, new ideas, etc.

I think there is a need for such a formalism. You can lock the thread and bump it regularly and use its link in the signature, Very impressive signature by the way.
