In general or just in the field of cryptocurrency? Well, scientific breakthroughs and innovations depend on the needs of mankind. Since the rest us are now suffering from the pandemic then for me the next big thing that we can foresee is the invention of the Covid 19 vaccine/cure because that's what the world badly needed right now

. I assumed they meant in general, but regarding crypto, you're spot on. So many coins that claim to be "the next big thing" are just a bunch of buzzwords and marketing gimmickry that don't add up to much in practice. I can see why people want to jump on whatever bandwagon has the most shiny baubles on it, but most of them simply aren't going anywhere.
