ETH will only be able to take first place in the market when Bitcoin's market dominance drops, which is unlikely to ever happen in crypto.
I think its not possible to happen since ETH is in the good shape right now. Improving their platform and gain so much trust to the people but its way too long before it will happen. Btc will remain strong since its amount will be limited over the next years to come. Its purpose to remain valuable will be the same and people will always trust to the first crypto to be published by the creator of cryptocurrency. This 2020 is so much early to say that ETH will be taking 1st place and will not be able to take the throne as of now.
