Seen this topic many times and they keep on pointing out how slow bitcoin is. It's acceptable that bitcoin was slow during the 2017 bull run because it's due to the network issue, it was attacked. But, if you ever transact today, an increase to the fee wouldn't matter that much and I don't find 1-10 minutes of transaction a hassle.
This clearly tells us that Bitcoin cannot be used for paying local merchants unless you are ready to stand on the shop until your payment gets processed.
This is where blockchain plays an important role, as long as it's already sent and it appears on the blockchain the merchants doesn't have to worry about it because Bitcoin transactions are irreversible.
