That whole thread is built on a flawed premised that you need to take the trust system over in order to get access to lucrative signatures/bounties. There is so much wrong with that and not a single person in the thread dares to question it. Impressive.

As most of us know, a group that provides the most part of Bitcointalk's livelihood, which we can qualify as "salaried employees" from the forum today, is organizing some malicious operations to prevent new valuable users from participating in events with potential for revenue, such as signature and bounty campaigns.
The Default Trust choices made every month are of great importance in order to prevent such nepotism (favoritism) activities that are completely deciphered in the global forum and to guarantee the fair and equitable presence of the local section users in the forum.
