Profit in altcoin is only possible in short-run, for the long run Bitcoin is the only right asset to invest.
Many investors don't research to find the coin, but they only follow what other people suggest in social media. That makes them lose their bitcoin by investing in altcoin, and that make them hold the altcoin for a long time or cut loss the altcoin right away when the price is down. Maybe the altcoin is for the short term investing, and bitcoin will be the long term investing. But still, they need to search for the coin to invest in an altcoin.
So far, I don't believe that investors are not looking for altcoin information before they invest in it, almost they have enough information but the nature of the loss is that they don't update the market trend and only follow the old path, we can see a lot of investors choose some altcoins as a long-term investment while the actual value of these altcoins is always going down each year. The only one who is not affected is probably bitcoin, it's a symbol over time, bitcoin is the most appropriate investment for the long term, altcoins are suitable only in the short term and need to know to accept profit, instead of greed
