When you think you can or do actually control your desires, that's most certainly self-deception. How come? Because it is your desires that are controlling you most of the time. Indeed, you can do something against what you want deep down inside, deliberately and consciously, but you will feel pretty ugly like doing something which is against your nature even if what you did or did not was the right thing to do or not to do. The takeaway is that fighting your inner demons in the open is a losing battle. You can't win
