It was never meant to be shown in the public anyway although it isn't as sensitive as showing off your private keys, which is just plain stupid. Being in Bitcoin doesn't make anyone anonymous, it can be traced as you mentioned through txid.
I remember crypto holders getting robbed long time ago, and some were even held at gunpoint. I have some quite few friends that know I hold crypto but I don't tell them how much I earn from it.
