Buy some, either from an ATM or exchange, be careful to read about them first.
I highly doubt that more than 1% of the people owning coins have got them from mining.

Simple question, how much do you pay for electricity ( in cents/kwh), and how much have you available to invest?
Those two make the difference between starting mining or forgetting about it, although I would recommend first a few days of reading what bitcoin and then mining is and how it works.
