I am still having a hard time to understand the plan. Perhaps it will be easier while the game on and being explained by the commentator.
Let's look at the NBA
source.-
What happens to the 8th seed if they lose twice?
A schedule will help a lot in this situation.
It is basically ending of a regular season shortened into 8
regular season games given to those 22 teams. Whoever gets into 1st-8th seed will be able to head to playoffs. However, and base from what I understand. There will be a play-in tournament between the 8th and 9th seed in each conferences only
if the 9th seed is 4 games short to get into the standing otherwise 8th seed is safe to proceed to playoffs.
The play-in tournament between the 8th and 9th seed; the team who get the spot for 8th seed has to beat the team in 9th seed only once while the 9th seed has to beat the 8th seed twice to take their
playoff spot. Still 8th seed isn't totally screwed over here, it is just that the league have given more chance for the potential team to clinch in.
Hence, if 8th seed loses twice to the 9th seed in that play-in tournament then the 9th seed would take spot and would be able head to playoffs.
Do I make any sense? Correct me if I get it wrong. I am a bit confused as well.
Glad we would be able watch NBA games again

. Just 8 weeks more!
