Hi OP , marketing companies love to tweak designs of well known brands , but to be perfectly honest Bitcoin is a relatively new project and to change the design now would be quite insane ! The logo works perfectly for the moment 
Why change something in its infancy ( sorry) for the sake of change ?
When a logo is established , unless there is something fundamentally wrong with the organisation or logo , promote , promote and promote!
On a currency side of things - change the Colombian peso logo first ! It will be gone soon anyway

I can definitely see what you're saying, however it just so seemed right to me in 2020,
as things are taking off for the new decade, especially after a tough economic situation,
I just so though it might be a time for a friendly revamp
, since BTC aims to be the currency used around the globe,simplicity & trust is at core - so making a symbol relevant seemed kinda important.
a decade has passed since the last BitBoy design and BTC is no longer as small as it once was, therefore I came with this design.
a simple logo - for a simple currency that can withstand the future.
as for the colombian Peso - well... it's just a fiat, it's not a virtual payment system that hopes for wide adoption
