Your given reason is a non-argument to me, every project suffers from FUD, abuse, scammers, hacks, ... . You have to deal with it, it's part of the deal, unfortunately, if you want it or not, it's not on you. On Discord, Telegram, the whole internet. But cutting of the community is a choice you made by yourself, not the choice of the scammers and other sh*tty people.
If you want to survive with your project, you need a functioning and supporting community.
