Do not really get too excited about these type of stats anymore, the talent pool is a lot bigger right now and players are a lot more talented these days. However one thing is for sure that the pace is very high as well. Just 15 years ago it was normal to face a game with under 70 points, you could have seen games with 68-64 as results, or more commonly games that are in 70's and 80's.

There was talks about how pistons kept their opponents under 70 points for some games in a row and all that. Look at the scores these days, everyone scores 140+ at least couple of times and the averages reaching to 120+ points per game on teams. So that results with more shots, more points, more assists, and more misses so more rebounds. I am not saying these players are bad, I am just saying the era loves stats a lot more than it used to.
