Because people, frankly speaking, are huge opportunists.

And when I say that, I refer to both scammers and scammed.

It is not hard to prove that those who are scamming others are definitely so. They are obviously riding on the popularity of anything such as Bitcoin, cryptocurrency, SpaceX, even COVID-19, and so on and so forth and on the credulity and ignorance of many. But more than that, they are playing on the attitude of so many people.

And that is the opportunistic attitude, the primary reason why a lot fall victim to investment scams such as Ponzi, fake giveaways, fake airdrops, and so forth.
