When life as you know it changes, new industries pop up and filled the void. That's something that people should realize so that they won't feel so helpless about the future of the world.

Sure many will lose their jobs, but others will gain. For society it's a net win

I'm not sure if it is a "net win" (if we account for opportunity costs)

To me, it looks more like a desperate attempt to rationalize the situation, even if what you describe is technically true, i.e. old industries dying off and new industries with new jobs springing up. It is a natural and inevitable process anyway, but it is how the change settles in that matters and makes the difference. When it happens abruptly and unexpectedly, it may be too costly and inefficient. In other words, you could get there and see better results with a less exertion and stress
