I am not convinced he needs that much Merit, since he has Copper membership and I don't expect him participate in other campaigns, you know Smiley ,  although I remember how good it feels when you rank up.
On another hand, I'd bet that he could also use some more trust feedback too.

You are correct, the GOLD_official account will not participate in other bounty campaigns. However, Merits are needed to achieve the full member rank. This will give the opportunity to wear the avatar.
