You can still protest the politics enacted by these countries by doing it in front of a consulate or an embassy (which are de facto foreign countries territories). If you see it from an absolute point of view, a change of situation in these countries would benefit their "minorities" situation by a great deal, so activism for the people in these countries would be much better overall.
