I don't think that's really true anymore. An user on the Portuguese board recovered his account without any signed message. He had mentioned a few addresses but none of which he controlled. They recovered his account based on his IP addresses, email address, etc... and OP most likely has access to his original email.You're right! There are always examples that show that it can go very fast if you follow the guidelines from "Recovering hacked/lost accounts".

Hopefully, he can recover his account, I also visited and read some information in "Recovering hacked/lost accounts" and some of the comments and feedback are positive where most of the users are satisfied about their retrieved accounts.
