After looking on the efforts of Matic I would like to say it could be next big thing into this ecosystem. You are right, the Defi model is simply exploding in current trend, as we see, most of the companies are showing lots of interest towards Defi model and it will help the old companies to expand their business and getting awareness about the decentralization finance platform and yes, early birds will get much benefit once the mass adoption.
