Bitcoin is king simple due to the fact that fiat fails. As I see it, this is a different thing to be a king on one's own terms and merits (which Bitcoin is not), and to be a king through the failure of something else. In simple terms, if governments didn't destroy fiat by insane money-printing conveniently couched as fiscal stimulus, quantitative easing, and similar euphemisms, fiat would still reign supreme
