Serious question here. Why is AuroraCoin $70.00 USD per coin? It offers nothing new and 50% of it is pre-mined. Is it just me who is confused here?
Auroracoin overcomes the biggest "flaw" in bitcoin: widespread adoption, with only 0.015% of global population owning bitcoin.  Auroracoin's Airdrop will fix that problem (provided it is executed well).

Darkcoin overcomes the second biggest flaw in bitcoin: anonymity. Darkcoin is fixing that, which is why I'm also buying DRK.

I think there is a fundamental oversight in the Auroracoin plan. Why wouldn't the Icelanders trade their free, nascent AUR for the more widely accepted BTC immediately after the Airdrop?

Will they be loyal to a crypto they didn't build or demand? I think they'll begin to dump for BTC, beginning panic selling across the board.

Ultimately that would mean it's a good thing for Icelanders (free BTC) and the Bitcoin adoption rates you mention. It would only be a bad thing for the bagholders who get in now and can't exit the market fast enough.

Well, but the other side of that argument is that those who sell the auroracoin are spreading it to even more users?

And you forget that for every seller there must be a buyer - who is going to want to buy a coin that you cannot do anything with. Iceland is sure as hell not going to accept it as a form of payment.. Not to mention the MAJORITY of Icelanders have no idea what a crypto wallet is, what aurora coin is, how to exchange the coin into BTC... Whats going to happen is the dev and other people who invested will be left holding the bag of coins that no-one collected and panic sell will commence...if that doesn't happen before the so called "Air-Drop"

and on that note can we PLEASE get back on track to DarkCoin related topics.....

1. I agree but there is a lot of spreading going on with the more than 100 alt coins people are currently speculating on. That doesn't mean they have any future.

2. I think I did address that people will be left holding the bag. A significant proportion of Icelanders will figure out how to trade AUR (if I can figure it out, they can!) and are likely to immediately trade for the more popular BTC. The rest will just ignore it and become unwitting bagholders, along with the speculators who paid good money for the same AUR.

But I agree, back to DRK now - an alt coin with something new to offer!
