I usually compare these crypto projects with startup companies. I mean a project in crypto is an entrepreneurial endeavor and they want to gain funds by creating their own token or coin and then have investors join them, much like in startup companies that needs investors for them to get the money to start with their work. If the said project or business has a sound plan and good team players then you will be able to enjoy their product as an investor or get profits from the sale of their product. For me  that is what it is. You need to carefully pick what cryptocurrency you need to invest to.
