I have read the middle part of your topic and I disagree to your advice of reducing the luxury. The advice is correct but those examples is what I disagree with.
Living in a private house doesn't mean you need to be extravagantly living. IMHO, that is better than to rent a house and think of monthly dues which will cost you more money. And if you want to lower your lifestyle then owning a second car isn't ideal too, because it can cost you more money as well because maintenance for those type of cars are possible to cost you more.
