I think scams does not harm bitcoin's reputation it just making people afraid of what this technology might do. I think scams will not let people avoid this technology if he has enough knowledge about it. It really true that if you have knowledge you will not be fooled so I think scams will not harm bitcoins if everyone knows what it really was.
