That’s an excellent point of course. A person can speculate about how the coin economy might develop.

There is little doubt that the bigger trend will be towards ai coins initially and eventually towards ai networks developed through taskwork coins. The initial ‘bitcoin’ idea of ‘it’s money that does nothing’ won’t last. The ‘ethereum’ idea of ‘developers are your leaders’ won’t last.

One problem with the current trajectory towards ai coins is the lack of any guidance in the broader crypto economy.

This is noted very precisely. The industry is in for a big change soon. New high-tech projects will come to the market. Bitcoin and Ethereum will have to do something incredible to maintain their leading position.

Most people believe bitcoin was the first digital currency, so it will have some value as long as most people believe that.

Ethereum is in a more difficult spot.

Maybe the ‘highest’ high tech might be coins that create or develop algorithms through taskwork. Numerai is a coin that only solicits algorithms for stock picking, but somebody eventually will make a taskwork coin like Huntercoin with modules that let anybody adjust what kind of algorithms they want to develop, so they could make a Numerai module for example to pick stocks, or a module that refines algorithms to find prime gaps or whatever, then let one group of people’s algorithms compete against another’s. Digital WWIII.

There isn’t really a more productive use of ‘monetized computing power’ than using it to create jobs which develop sciences. Having millions of people refine science seeking algorithms would make a lot of sciences develop rapidly. The trick would be to design the coin in a way that a non tech person could contribute to refining the algorithm.
