I actually don't mind Maguire for United or England. Granted he is not the best technician or speediest defender out there but he reads the game quite well and he will get all the air duels in the match. It is up to the manager/coach to organize the defense to suit him. You have to push opposition players to the flanks and then he will make good work of all those crosses.
Agree. He has some good qualities of defender but he isn't a complete defender. Both Van Dijk and Maguire were bought by the teams with almost same price tag but play wise and quality wise we all know Van Dijk is how much better than Maguire.
He is not such a very bad defender as I said so previously though but I haven't seen a best of him as expected. Maybe it's beacuse of the price tag at which Man Utd bought him but Man Utd. way of valuating their transfer targets has been a mystery for me as well for couple of years.
