If you have the foundation of programming especially the basics of python, you can easily build your own blockchain and it's up to you on what kind of implementation you will do. It has a lot of applications as long as there are data, blockchain will become mainstream as projects in universities.

We actually don't need specific subject of blockchain, what we really need is the foundation is programming in computer related courses.
