Yes of course, but this is about price not about rank in coinmarketcap.
Maybe both of them can beat by new coin, if total supply equals eth.

This is about Market Capitalization and Volume in my opinion, the price is not too influential and it also seems that ethereum's tough competitors are Polkadot and BNB but I bet more on Polkadot because this project was founded by a former Ethereum developer and also the vision and mission of Polkadot in my opinion is better than with ETH and also currently ETH has a lot of drawbacks.
