I'd find it suspicious if they never ask for selfie, since uploading documents are not a guarantee the user is the same person. If you don't want KYC maybe you should try P2P transactions instead.
I personally never use this option but I suggest this to one of my friend and he is using Binance from European country and he provide only Identity verification and Address verification with social media accounts never any selfie this is working ok for him you can also try this hopefully this will works for you second option is Poloniex its also not required any selfie you can do with Identity and Address verification for bank deposit.
CMIIW, but this leveled KYC might not suit what OP needs, especially if he wants to buy a lot of coin.
