The argue would be that it a combination of alt coins and btc coins. It was posted in the btc mining section and was deleted. Frankly it is a very good set of analysis of:
gpu to eth on nicehash to btc
vs asic to btc on a pool like viabtc.
it clearly shows that gpus are killing it right now .
Last time this began was 2016 and it lasted till mid 2018.

gpu for ets to btc
cpu for monero
I manage my ratios of profit and have been mining this way since 2013.
