good conectivity and fast internet is the same but you said internet speed is not the basis of success which is also true because there are people on far locations that are still succesful on their career and there were people that grown in a good life but they are uneducated or unemployed . the way you said connectivity, maybe you mean connections to other people .connections are also essentials to success because you can ask people or people you know can recomend you if they see that you have a skill on that area .
By good connectivity I mean proximity to major highways or airports. You can't run a business sitting at home. You need to meet the clients and take part in exhibitions. In order to do that, you need to travel frequently. In case you are located in a remote region, then that may hinder your operations. If you are unable to travel, then the clients may dump you and chose some of your competitors. That's why I said that having a good internet connection alone doesn't guarantee anything. It can be a major help, but you need to take care of the other factors as well.
