When I read the rules some days ago I realized that merits are earned by
- Making relevant contribution to the forum,
- Bringing new ideas to help educate other members,
- And presenting your contributions to help promote bitcoins
Not by going around begging and sending PMs to other higher members for merit awarding which in my case I would consider disturbance
