In this complaint filed in the Federal Court in New York, the SEC is accusing him of violating several U.S. securities laws. And not just a little! According to the document, McAfee received a huge payoff for promoting Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs):
"McAfee received more than $11.6 million worth of Bitcoins (BTC) and Ethers (ETH), plus an additional $11.5 million in promoted tokens, as undisclosed compensation for his promotions of seven ICOs. »
