Introduction

Non-fungible tokens, also known as a nifty or simply NFTs, are special types of cryptographic tokens that represent a unique asset, and are thus non-mutually interchangeable by their individual specification.  In other words, they represent tokenized versions of real or digital assets.  While NFTs are commonly used within the crypto sphere as a means to illustrate uniqueness, and are currently associated with collectible tokens that can be traded as crypto-collectibles, this identification of uniqueness can be resolved into other purposes. ArchiveIs  a  focus  on  web  archive  services  and  uses  an  NFT-based  approach  in  order  to selectively archive web data into long-term retention on a tokenized system

Archival Web Services

Archival  web  services,  such  as  Internet  Archive  (archive.org)  and  Archive  Today(archive.today) work using web crawlers to capture sites and create data clusters or storage for the captured data to retain in.  These types of archival storage’s require mass amounts of storage arrays in order to capture all the dense data while crawling the entire internet, and as such is an expensive and extensive task.  While these archival services do not take the deep web into account alongside with sites that request archival services to be denied (using a configured robots.txt), it is nonetheless an on-going effort in order to attain a complete archive of the entire history of the internet.

What is ArchiveNFT?

Archiving is an important role for the internet.  To be able to keep track of all changes of a web page,  and to refer back to past versions,  is a must in this fast paced society for transparency,  security,  and accountability while preserving information for future viewers.

Archive’s goal is to branch the cost of these services while retaining the properties of NFT as a use case to keep track of all web archival links as tokenized data. This is not just limited to web pages, but images, videos, documents, and other file formats can be considered part of  the  archival  process.

A  reason  to  remain  anonymous  is  due  to  the  sensitive  and  legal nature of archiving certain objects, specifically published journals and articles (e.g.  JSTOR) as such actions have caused significant backlash from authorities in the past.

Tokenomics

Archive is built up from a fork of CBDAO (Bree) using a combination of governance properties, in order to faciliate feedback and direction, and NFT but also implemented with features from other projects in order to create a different token system that can best benefit a project such as this in terms of longevity, stability, and price function while maintaining a steady process of minting.  Minting tokens will become an essential part of this project as  each  archive  will  be  represented  by  a  token  involving  succession.

As  an  incentive  to early  adopters,  the  starting  supply  will  start  higher  with  a  burn  function  to  ensure  price increase until it reaches a certain limit,  from there a constant growth of minting until an epoch of stability when the archival rate process is on par with the minting rate occurs.  The information highlighted in this document can only be considered a primer into the project and as such is in no way indicative of the full product.
