The most important thing is what happens after death. All your plans and doings in life are taken away from you the moment you die. If you haven't made plans with God, you are lost, and everything you have and are will be lost to you.
I don't think all the things you do is worthless.You may do something and don't know how valuable it is.
Perhaps helping a poor man save the world from a terrorist attack
